Sleep & Stress Help

Many of us lead stressful lives these days. Chronic stress takes a toll on our health in many ways including interfering with our ability to get a good night’s sleep. Herb Pharm, from Williams, Oregon, has several liquid extracts that can help with relaxation and sleep. Two very popular ones are …

LEMON BALM

Aromatic LEMON BALM (Melissa officinalis) is a mild sedative that is useful for insomnia. It is also helpful for muscle tension and migraine headaches. Lemon Balm has antiviral activity as well and is an excellent choice for people with Herpes Simplex (Types 1 and 2) and Herpes Zoster which causes shingles. Herb Pharm’s Lemon Balm is a blend of leaves and flowering tops which are certified organically grown on their own farm.

Herb Pharm’s RELAXING SLEEP TONIC is the jewel in the crown of their Calming and Relaxing subcategory. It is a very effective combination of Valerian (Valeriana officinalis), Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata), Hops (Humulus lupulus), Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) and Catnip (Nepeta cataria). All five of these herbs are helpful for muscle tension, anxiety and insomnia. All but Catnip have a sedative effect on the central nervous system and alleviate headaches. Valerian and Passionflower are also useful for depression and painful menstruation. Passionflower and Hops are also useful for those dealing with addiction issues. In addition, these herbs may be helpful for stress, inflammation, pain (especially ear aches and tooth aches), shingles, menopausal discomfort and more.
