Lipotropic substances help to prevent excessive or abnormal accumulation of fat in the liver and increase utilization of fats by our tissues. Lipotropic Complex™ is a combination of phytonutrients and bile salts that enhance fat digestion and liver function. It provides support for the liver and the biologically important (and complex) transmethylation process.

Environmental toxins and hormones that are fat-soluble are stored in fat cells, especially in the liver. So the liver may need additional support to handle the extra burden of increased fat metabolism during weight loss or detoxification, for example.

Lipotropic Complex™ is formulated to support the liver’s detoxification process and optimize excretion of fat-soluble toxins:

  • Choline, methionine and silymarin from milk thistle act as methyl donors in hepatic transmethylation reactions. Milk thistle also has a protective influence on the liver.
  • Vitamins B-6, B-12 and folic acid function as cofactors for detoxification processes.
  • Ox bile extract is included because bile salts are necessary for breaking up fats for digestion and absorption. Inositol also enhances bile production.
  • Botanical cholagogues dandelion, fringe tree, greater celandine, beet and black radish to increase bile production and output.
