Clinically Studied Strains for Urogenital Health

Fem-Dophilus is a blend of two patented and clinically documented probiotic organisms that have been shown to be effective for colonizing and promoting urogenital health. It is a good choice for people who suffer from recurring urinary tract infections (UTIs), chronic vaginal infections, bacterial vaginosis or candida overgrowth. It is also designed to be effective for women who are at risk of getting sexually transmitted diseases. It can be used before and after antibiotic treatment as well.

Although Fem-Dophilus contains only two strains of Lactobacillus, they have been well researched for over 25 years. They are both able to resist stomach and bile acids to reach the small intestine where they multiply and then pass through the digestive tract to reach the perineal area (vagina and rectum) and are able to decrease the number of detrimental organisms. There is some evidence that daily oral use of these strains can decrease the risk of pre-term births.

• L. rhamnosus GR-1 — This subspecies helps to fight yeast organisms, E. coli and detrimental gram-negative bacteria. It prevents yeast and Gardnerella biofilms.
• L. reuteri RC-14 — This subspecies is particularly effective against gram-positive bacteria.
